Is it time to Spring clean your skincare?
Spring is simply the BEST time to make changes. As the weather warms up, it feels easier to get outside, move our bodies, and enjoy the fresh air. Plus, with delicious seasonal produce like spring greens, asparagus, rhubarb, and green beans making an appearance, healthy eating becomes even more realistic!
If you’re feeling the urge to refresh your lifestyle this season, here are five simple ways to harness that spring energy and improve your skin from the inside out.
5 ways to refresh your skin & health as we transition into Spring
1. Refresh & organise your kitchen for skin-boosting meals
A cluttered, messy kitchen can make healthy eating feel overwhelming, and what you eat plays a huge role in your skin health. Give your food prep space a deep clean, tidy up your fridge and pantry, and take stock of what you already have. This week, I have set aside time to clear out expired items and make a plan to use up those forgotten ingredients. When your kitchen feels fresh and organised, it’s so much easier to cook skin-loving meals rich in antioxidants, healthy fats, and fibre that support a glowing complexion.
2. Plan & prioritise seasonal eating for better skin
Eating with the seasons isn’t just great for the environment—it also provides fresher, more nutrient-dense food that can help reduce inflammation and improve skin health. Spring brings an abundance of vibrant produce that supports digestion and nourishes your skin from within. Leafy greens, berries, and fresh herbs are packed with vitamins that help repair the skin barrier and reduce redness. Not sure where to start? A local veg box delivery can introduce you to new ingredients and inspire creative, skin-boosting meals.
3. Cook more from scratch to avoid hormonal imbalances
Pre-made meals and convenience foods often contain hidden sugars, preservatives, and lack sufficient fibre and protein all of which can trigger breakouts and hormonal imbalances. Cooking from scratch allows you to control what goes into your meals, reducing inflammatory foods and increasing skin-loving nutrients. It doesn’t have to be complicated—batch cooking, using pre-chopped veggies, and keeping easy staples on hand can make homemade meals a breeze. I try to dedicate Sunday afternoons to meal prep with Netflix or a good podcast in the background, making it a relaxing ritual rather than a chore! My current fave podcast.
4. Move your body in nature for glowing skin
Spring’s longer days and warmer temperatures make it the perfect time to get outside and move, and your skin will thank you for it! Exercise improves circulation, helping to deliver oxygen and nutrients to skin cells whilst also benefitting our nervous system. I’m personally loving being able to take the dog for a walk after school pick-up or spending an afternoon on the beach with Maisie when the sun is out. Whether it’s a morning walk, your local park run, or a weekend hike, being in nature also helps lower stress hormones, which can contribute to breakouts and skin inflammation.
5. Practice mindful eating to support digestion & clear skin
How we eat is just as important as what we eat when it comes to skin health. Rushed, distracted eating can lead to poor digestion, which affects how well we absorb the skin-nourishing nutrients we need. This spring, make an effort to slow down, chew thoroughly, and savour your meals. Eating mindfully helps reduce bloating, improve gut health, and support clearer, more balanced skin.
